Add consistent numbering to the PDF copy

Page Numbers adds visible numbering to the generated PDF without changing the wording already present on the source pages.

เหมาะสำหรับ

  • Number reports, packets, merged documents, or application bundles.
  • Start numbering from a chosen value from 0 to 999999.
  • Skip a cover page, number selected pages, or exclude selected pages with the page-scope controls.

ข้อควรรู้

  • Page ranges must be entered in ascending order, and skipped pages do not advance the sequence.
  • Position numbers away from existing headers, footers, signatures, or other important content.
  • Plain numbering, an optional Latin-font prefix, and Page X of Y are supported; Roman numerals and arbitrary Unicode fonts are not.
Practical guidance

Add page numbers to all or selected PDF pages

Number every page by default, or include or exclude ascending page ranges. Choose the first number, optional prefix, plain or Page X of Y format, header or footer placement, text size, colour, and opacity.

Choose where PDF page numbers appear

Place the sequence in one of six supported header or footer positions, then check the downloaded copy for overlap with existing content.

Choose the pages and sequence

Number all pages, only entered pages or ranges, or all pages except entered exclusions. Skipped pages do not advance the sequence.

Set the label and appearance

Start from another value, add an optional prefix, use a plain number or Page X of Y, and choose the size, colour, and opacity.

Questions people ask about this task

Can I add page numbers to a PDF online for free?

Yes. Choose the numbering settings and download a numbered copy without an account.

Can I use Roman numerals for PDF page numbers?

No. The current tool writes a numeric sequence with an optional text prefix.

Can I skip the cover page?

Yes. Choose All except these pages and enter 1, or include a range that starts after the cover. The remaining selected pages are numbered in PDF order.

Add Page Numbers to a PDF Online

Upload the PDF, choose how the page numbers should appear, apply the numbering, and download the updated document.

Select which source pages receive numbers, set the first value and label appearance, then create a new PDF. There is no live numbered-output preview, so check placement after downloading.

Follow the supported controls

  1. Finish merging, removing and reordering pages, then choose the final PDF.
  2. Choose All pages, Selected pages or All except selected pages, entering ascending source ranges where needed.
  3. Set the first number, plain or Page X of Y format, optional prefix, position, size, colour and opacity.
  4. Create and download the numbered PDF; inspect the first, second and last labelled pages and any busy header or footer.

Source pages and printed labels are different

A selected source page number identifies where a mark is added. The starting value controls what that mark says. Skipped pages do not advance the sequence. For example, selecting pages 2 and 5 with a starting value of 7 labels those selected pages 7 and 8. In a page-of-total format, the total is the final number in that sequence: 8 in this example, rather than the source document's page count.

Questions about add Page Numbers to a PDF Online

Can I skip the cover page?

Yes. Choose a selected range after the cover, or exclude the cover with the available page-scope controls.

Can I preview the final label placement?

The current tool does not render a final placement preview; inspect the downloaded output.

Does numbering rearrange the document?

No. Finalize page order first, then add visible numbering.

add page numbers to a PDF on a phone

Choose a PDF from phone storage, configure the numbering, and save a numbered copy in the mobile browser.

Choose the final PDF from phone storage, configure source-page scope and numbering, then save and reopen the copy. Verify placement after creation because a live numbered preview is not provided.

Review the file saved on the phone

Keep the tab active while the document is processed and save through the browser download flow. Reopen the saved file from Downloads or Files, rather than assuming the workspace settings are the final appearance. Check small labels at normal reading size and dense footers at higher zoom.

Questions about add page numbers to a PDF on a phone

Can I number only selected pages on a phone?

Yes. Use the page-scope controls and ascending source ranges.

Why must I inspect the download?

The tool does not show a final numbered-output preview and does not move existing footer text out of the way.

Where is the numbered copy saved?

The mobile browser uses its normal Files or Downloads flow.

choose PDF page-number position, label, and size

Use the available label, start value, placement, and size settings to create a clear numbering pattern.

Choose plain numbers or Page X of Y, an optional prefix and one of six header/footer positions. Use a readable size, colour and opacity, then inspect the saved result.

Use a label that fits its location

The controls use Helvetica from 8 to 48 points, a starting value from 0 to 999999 and an optional prefix up to 40 characters. The prefix must use supported font characters. Long labels occupy more width than a plain number; a clear lower corner on one page may contain a signature or table note on another.

Questions about choose PDF page-number position, label, and size

Are Roman numerals supported?

No. The current formats are plain numbering and Page X of Y.

Can I use any Unicode prefix?

No. The built-in font cannot represent every Unicode script; unsupported characters cannot be exported.

Can the label be placed anywhere?

Choose one of six header or footer positions. There is no free-position label editor here.

start PDF page numbering from a custom number

Set the first generated number to match a larger packet, cover-page convention, or continuing document sequence.

Set the first generated label independently of the selected source pages. The sequence advances only on labelled pages; calculate the expected last number before saving.

Check the arithmetic against selected pages

If five pages are selected and the first value is 20, the last generated number is 24. Excluded pages do not consume a number. Keep the complete sequence within 0 to 999999. In Page X of Y, Y is the last generated number, so this example produces Page 20 of 24 through Page 24 of 24. It is not the source document's page count.

Questions about start PDF page numbering from a custom number

Can the first value be zero?

Yes. The supported first-number range starts at zero.

Do excluded pages advance the sequence?

No. The sequence advances over selected pages only.

Does a starting value change PDF page order?

No. It changes the visible labels added to the selected source pages.
